The International Biennale of Glass is the largest and most professional event in Bulgaria, devoted exclusively to glass art! This autumn it marks its third edition, which will take place between October 6 and November 7, 2021, in the renovated and expanded building of the Bulgarian National Gallery in Sofia – “Kvadrat 500”.
160 artists from 42 countries will be presented, whose works are prime examples of the variety of techniques in glassmaking and the wide field of aesthetic suggestions that the material offers.
~ On October 6 (Wednesday) between 10 am and 3 pm, online on our virtual platform IBG Connect will be broadcasted our guest speakers, delivering their lectures directly from the exhibition space! We present to you:
– Charles Parriott (USA)
– Derya Geylani Vuruşan (Turkey)
– Jeounghee Kim (France)
– František Janak / Martina Janáková (Czech Republic)
– Han de Kluijver (Netherlands)
– Markéta Váradiová and Iva Kolorenčová (Czech Republic)
Since its first edition in 2017, the forum has provided a field for nearly 300 artists from dozens of countries around the world, including prominent masters of glass art, pioneers, and titans in the domain (the creative tandem Stanislav Libenský and Jaroslava Brychtová, Václav Cigler, Marvin Lipofski, Lino Tagliapietra, etc.), as well as young Bulgarian and foreign authors and students. This year, more than ever, the joint and diligent work on the preparation of the third edition strengthened the international spirit of continuity, support, and faith in the common sublime goal – the celebration of glass art, confirming the established slogan of the Biennale – TOGETHER!
